Phi Phi Island

Today was like being in paradise!

Joe and I went on a tour with SeaStar to see Phi Phi and other islands around.

We got picked up from our hotel and were driven to the Royal Phuket Marina. Our first stop after the one hour speedboat ride was Monkey Beach. Apparently people sometimes get attached by monkeys when they enter the beach so we all just stayed on board and had a look from there. WE saw a couple of monkeys, which looked so cute!

Afterwards we went snorkeling in front of Phi Phi Don island. The water temperature was around 26 degrees which was perfect.

Back on the boat (after having lunch), we made our way to Pileh Lagoon. No doubt, the absolute highlight of the trip! We jumped off the vessel into the crystal clear water, it was so so much fun!!!

We were surrounded by steep rocks – no idea how trees can even grow there. this is exactly what we were hoping to see when we booked Thailand.

Then, we headed to Maya Bay, where the movie ‘The Beach’ was filmed. We were lucky to do it in the afternoon, since mornings seem to be a lot busier. I wish I could have played in that movie to have a reason to stay longer 😉

The best part though was hidden – while lots of people stayed to enjoy the sun Joe and I explored the island a little bit more and found this: Loh Samah

It looked like heaven, just this round island sticking out of the water.

After an hour we unfortunately had to go back to the boat which was a pity – we would have loved to stay longer.

Instead, the tour brought us to Khai Nai Island, which basically is a strip of sand with lots of huts which sell goods, drinks and food. This is where we spent over an hour of our time which was a real shame – even the chairs had to be paid for to sit on them for an hour. What a business model! We were quite happy when we left the island and arrived back at the harbor. Before leaving the boat the tour guide went round and called out everybody’s name (which was super impressive considering we were around 30-40 people on the boat). But then he went to every single person and held a hat out for some tips. That really was uncomfortable, everyone was forced and guilt-tripped into tipping for a tour which was expensive to start with. That was not ideal.

Overall, the day was mega cool though – we can’t wait to see James Bond island now!

This is where you can find the tour:
